Dave,
Here's yet another instance of the Blue Star Tattoo legend surfacing. It seems to have come from an Army friend of my colleague here at the Census Bureau, but does not have the same form as the recent NASA-Intergraph-Microsoft-Army outbreak.

the below message was sent to me by a friend and i thought maybe
some of you who have children or some young ones that you care a
lot for and would be interested in knowing so i sent it along.
good luck.

The following "warning" has been brought to our
attention from a former employee of the OMNCS. Please read,
especially if you have young children.
Please pass it on via e-mail. I got this through the
agency so it must be really going on in the streets. CUL,
Ron
IMPORTANT WARNING... IMPORTANT WARNING.. IMPORTANT
WARNING...
TO: ALL PARENTS
FROM: CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY TREATMENT SERVICE
DATE: APRIL 17 1996
SUBJECT: BLUE STAR Dangerous chemical warning.
A form of Tattoo called "BLUE STAR" is being sold to
school children. It is a small piece of paper containing a
blue star the size of a pencil eraser.
Each star is soaked with LSD. This dangerous drug is
absorbed through the skin simply by handling the paper.
There are also bright colored paper tattoos resembling
postage stamps that have the picture of the following.
SUPERMAN, MICKEY MOUSE, CLOWNS, DISNEY CHARACTERS, BART
SIMPSON and BUTTERFLY
They are all laced with "dangerous drugs" that can
cause severe problems with our young children. The
tattoo's are known to react quickly and some are laced with
STRYCHNINE.
Use extreme caution if your child receives any of the
above cartoon tattoo's.
Do not handle them. Please notify your local hospital
if your child comes in contact with any of the tattoo's.
SYMPTOMS are: (Hallucinations)- (severe vomiting)-
(uncontrolled laughing)- (mood changes)- and (changes in
body temperature).
Please feel free to reproduce this article and
distribute it as widely as possible in your community,
schools, churches, and the workplace.
Please post it in public places and bulletin boards.
Please! Get the word out as quickly as possible. This is
growing faster than we can warn parents and professionals.
This is another way of selling acid by appealing to our
young children. Please do your part in educating our young
by being an informed parent or guardian.
THANK YOU!
